Eligibility
8.1
Eligible are European short films which meet the general eligibility criteria (see 3) have been produced in 2025 or 2026 and shall not exceed 30 minutes (excluding end credits which must start before minute 30). Eligible are fiction, documentary, animation and experimental short films.
8.2
The EUROPEAN SHORT FILM – Prix Vimeo is presented in co-operation with Vimeo and 31 European film festivals (see European Film Academy Short Film Network) where the different eligibility conventions are represented in the resepective (main/international) competition(s).
Academy Shortlist
8.3
Between 1 October 2025 and 30 September 2026, at each of the participating festivals, a jury appointed by the festival selects a single short film (no ex-aequo results, but the same film(s) may get selected at several festivals within the same circuit) for the EUROPEAN FILM AWARDS SHORT FILM SELECTION as part of the Academy Shortlist.
Nomination and election of the winner
8.4
Based on the SHORT FILM SELECTION, the members of the European Film Academy Short Film Network nominate five short films.
8.5
The nominations are made available for viewing to the Academy members who vote for the winner.
8.6
The award EUROPEAN SHORT FILM – Prix Vimeo is presented to the European director(s) (see 3) of a short film.
