EUROPEAN FILM AWARDS 2027 (39th edition)
Preamble:
The aims of the European Film Awards are:
• To celebrate the excellence and diversity of European cinema
• To attract new audiences to European film
• To draw attention to (new) European talent
In this respect, the European Film Awards promote European films to the European and international audience. Films being considered for the selections or a nomination should therefore have a strong potential for an audience outside their home territories.
Dear Committee Member,
When making your choices please bear in mind:
- Films being selected or nominated for the European Film Awards should belong to the VERY BEST European cinema has to offer to an international audience in the year of the European Film Awards.
- Committee members do not represent countries. Their view on films must be purely artistic and not biased by national affiliation.
- Films taken into consideration for the European Film Awards’ selections or a nomination should stand for the excellent artistic qualities of European cinema.
- The selected or nominated films should reflect diversity and inclusion in front and behind the screen. This, in the sense of the European Film Academy, means to include and represent a wide range of filmmakers and storytelling, including varieties of ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender identity, health conditions and impairments, age, religion or belief, nationality and socioeconomic status. For more information, please see the Academy’s Diversity & Inclusion Standards.
- Should a committee member be directly or indirectly involved in a film taken into consideration for the selections or a nomination, this person must inform the European Film Academy and the fellow committee members accordingly.
Please treat your committee work strictly confidential and do not share any insights on your social media channels. Your involvement will only be announced to the public after the awarding procedures have been completed.
Furthermore, as freedom of speech and creative freedom are fundamental to the work of the Academy please also see the Academy’s Guidelines for Free Speech and Creative Freedom.
Thanks a lot for your attention and for your dedication and contribution to the European Film Awards.
Warm regards,
