Synopsis

"What happens when everything we've taken for granted vanishes, the future suddenly rears up unpredictably in front of us, ^ and we no longer are in charge of our lives? Open Hearts is about four human beings and their sudden, unprepared-Jor encounter with the fragility of life and the power of love. Cecilie (Sonja Richter) and Joachim (Nikola) are young and in love. They are soon to get married and the have : their whole lives ahead of them. But men things go wrong and all of a sudden everything is transformed. Things change not only for Cecilie and Joachim but also for Marie (Paprika Steen) and Niels (Mads Mikkelsen). Marie and Niels are both in their late thirties. They're happily married and they have three children but [heir marriage is sorely tested when Niels falls passionately in love with Cecilie The question is whether Niles and Cecilie- are ready to give up eveiything for the sake of their love. One thing is for sure: nothing can ever be the same again ... OPEN HEARTS is about losing control, looking life in the face, and having the courage to go for the love of you life. Sometimes love is greatest when you least expect it."
