Synopsis

Basilio is 14 years old; he and his 12-year-old brother Bernardino work in the Bolivian silver mines of Cerro Rico to Support their Family. The devoutly Catholic miners abandon God upon entering the mine, instead worshipping the devil who they believe determines the fate of all those who work in Cerro Rico, and who is represented by hundreds of statues that line the tunnels.
