He is a wise-guy, funny, sexually assertive, but strangely tender with his dissolute father. Tom is passing a critical point in one's life when a child becomes the parent of its parents.
One day, a chance encounter encourages him to be, like his mother, a concert pianist. Feeling that it may be his last chance to take destiny into his own hands, he practices with a virtuoso Chinese pianist who is new in town. She doesn't speak a word of French, music is their only exchange.
His desire for transformation opens his heart to aspire to sublime love. And when he finally has the opportunity to have his best friend's wife - whom he has coveted for years - his eagerness scares her away.
Two years later when his shady past catches up with him he succeeds in liberating himseif for good ...
