Synopsis

Istanbul in 1960 — the morning of a military coup. A family in their apartment: two young boys, their mother, their father (a judge), their grandmother, their grandfather (a colonel), and their uncle. They awaken to military music on the radio.
Eighteen years later —fear and horror rule the land. The family has fallen apart and there is no rapport left between the generations.
The household is completely disrupted when one of the sons commits murder. The father, who has become a complacent bureaucrat, rediscovers life and the reality of his country. It is a discovery marked by conflict and contradiction in a society living through the painful experience of its confrontation with progress.
